Very few people know about it, but the machine embroidery allows to create not only chevrons and inscriptions, but also pictures honor with a photographic accuracy. In the main degree it depends on art of the designer creating the program for the embroidery machine. Work of such designer is similar to work of the artist who by means of graphic means available to it tries to copy world around on a cloth. Thus it is possible to use various techniques. We always remember that the machine embroidery is a mass production which is aimed not at creation of single masterpieces, but at replication of works.

Therefore we use in our designes, even most realistic, a minimum of colours of threads and a minimum of changes of a thread in the course of an embroidery. In it we followed an example graphic artists who by means of only two colours - white and black, manage to transfer both the volume of subjects, and their materiality. They achieve it by means of the direction of strokes and change of their density. Analog of strokes in an embroidery are stitches. Changing their direction and density, it is possible to achieve illusion of volume and to create various shades imposing of layers at each other by means of limited quantity of colours. Thus the threads used as an art material, possess unique properties. We consider as the main advantage of the embroidered pictures their ability to be changed on light.

Reflecting ability of threads strongly depends on their direction in relation to an incident light and eyes of the viewer. Therefore at change of a point of view different areas of an embroidery where threads are directed differently are highlighted. Especially effectively the still lifes created in a manner of Flemish painters when subjects as if are highlighted from darkness look. Light modulations at change of a point of view create unique feeling of holographic dimensions of images. Below we give examples of such still lifes (and portraits).
